Schurr AVID Award's Ceremony

Today I had the honor of attending Schurr Avid’s Senior Awards Ceremony as a proud sister, and Avid Alumna. It was an honor to be in the presence of greatness, in the presence of our next generation of leaders. As co-chairs of the Avid Alumni Association, every year my dear friend Marcos Montes and I come back to Schurr to help fundraise, uplift this effort and present the Marcos Montes Dreamer award.

Thanks to all of the AVID alumni, Schurr Staff, and extended AVID family who contributed during our Annual Giving Campaign. The alumni contributed $1250, the staff $2260, and the extended family $2100 for a total of $5610! Because of of your charity, we gave 17 $400 scholarships and 2 $1000 scholarships. We wanted to recognize those individuals and organizations who helped us reach our goal and our students realize their college dreams.

I can honestly say that I would not be where I am or who I am today if it was not for Dr. Avila and the AVID program. I'm so very proud and honored to be a part of the AVID Familia.
