Operation Stay Safe: Tiny Home Village Grand Opening.

Updated: May 18, 2022

Operation Stay Safe is a proposed joint project between the San Gabriel Valley Regional Housing Trust (SGVRHT), the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments (SGVCOG), and the City of Montebello to develop a tiny home program with 30 units to assist homeless individuals within the City.

Operation Stay Safe would not be possible without the existence of the Montebello Community Assistance Program-also known as MCAP. This small but mighty team of individuals consists of a Firefighter Paramedic, Social Worker, and Case Manager who coordinate outreach and supportive services for those experiencing homelessness in Montebello. Under their direction, Operation Stay Safe will be a bridge to hope for individuals who are ready to take the next step in their journey toward permanent housing. We are so proud to have such an innovative program within our Fire Department which is now setting the standard for homeless outreach in the region.

I’m extremely proud of our council and our city for being a leader in our region in the fight against housing insecurity. Operation Stay Safe is a beacon of hope and a first step that will help transform the lives of many within our community who are facing poverty, hunger, and homelessness. This project is innovative, affordable, and a scalable solution to our humanitarian crisis.
